I guess 5 games straight was a fluke. The 76ers played like garbage and gave up 104 points. Thaddeus Young played well scoring 12 on 5 of 5 shooting. Andre Miller can smell the trade coming and continues his league wide audition, shooting 7 for 12 with 4 rebounds and 6 assists.

  • David Aldridge thinks that King wasn’t so bad after all and attempts to make a case for that. He sights the play of Andre Miller and Dalembert, and the young guys Williams, Young and Jason Smith. I am not a Billy King fan, and the mess that the 76ers are in is not yet turning around. If, and this is a huge if, the Sixers get a solid free agent then we may see some progress. But, the bench is very thin, we have few tradable assets, and a slew of overpaid players. –> As Sixers sprout, credit King for the seeds
  • Not news, but a nice look at the uniform history of the 76ers –> Uniform History
  • It looks like Mo Cheeks will get a contract extenstion. I do believe that he deserves it. As thin as this team is they continue to play hard, and have not quit. That’s a huge step over the last few seasons. –> Cheeks on verge of getting extension
If the Sixers were a good team, this season would be truly magical. Once again, Philadelphia gets a team without a key piece. Miami was without new trade addition Marion in the post-Shaq deal. This shouldn’t take away too much from a very solid game from the 76ers. They held Miami to 36.3% shooting, forced 4 more turnovers, outrebounded by 10, and took control after a mini-run by the Heat. Iguodala played like he wants to get paid, netting 25, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Iguodala is strong - (AP Photo/H. Rumph, Jr.)

The 700 Level blog landed a interview with Ed Stefanski. When does 76ersblog.com get a shot? –> The 700 Level interviews Sixers President & General Manager Ed Stefanski

Arron McKie has been pulled from the sidelines back to the court by way of a complex trade. The Los Angeles Lakers still held the rights to McKie, and he was needed, money wise, to complete the blockbuster trade for Pau Gasol. This is a good thing in some ways. Reports say that McKie will get about $750,000 a year, for three years. McKie is already getting $7,000,000 for this season from the 76ers, the last year of a 3-year gift from Billy King. McKie will act as a player/coach for the Grizzlies. Marc Ivaroni, the coach for Memphis, was a Larry Brown assistant.

76ers (16-27) lose to Pistons (30-13)

The 76ers started the 2nd half of the season with another loss. They started the game with a turnover and it was pretty much the way it was the rest of the game. After a brief 4 point lead in the 2nd quarter the Sixers were down by 6 or more the rest of the way. Willie Green started out on fire, making his first 4 shots. He finished with a solid 7-12, for 16 points. Iguodala had 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 turnovers. Andre Miller is not great and Louis Williams continues to make a case for the starting job. Miller shoots a higher percentage, but Williams gets to line line at a much higher rate. If you believe in Hollinger’s PER stats, Williams is just behind Miller (16 for Williams, 17.04 for Miller). The Detroit defense won this game, forcing 18 turnovers, and holding the 76ers to 43% shooting. Jason Smith attempts to block Rip

HoopsHype did a nice little interview with Iguodala –>Andre Iguodala: “I want to make an impact on both ends of the court”

76ers News: Sunday 1-13-08

6 losses in a row, and the trade rumors are hitting a nice peak. I’m just hoping that Andre Miller leaves town before the trade deadline, and the Steafanski puts the franchise in the pole position for 2008-09. It’s sad the we must look so far ahead, but with Iguodala playing the way he’s been playing - does he really think he’ll get a max contract with 19.1 (pts/gm)/5.7 (rebs/gm) - what else can we do. I love Iguodala’s game, he’s the next best thing to Kirilenko, but at a fraction the cost. Kirilenko makes almost 14 million a year, and everyone knows he’s overpaid. Stefanski is not Billy King. Iggy, you missed the money train kid, sorry.

  • Stefanksi is no dummy, but please…before the deadline –>Stefanski in no rush to trade Miller

  • Tom Moore calls out Iguodala –>It’s time for Iguodala to start acting like the 76ers’ best player
  • Martin Frank imagines the 08-09 76ers, he’s left Andre Miller on the team…scary sad –>How the 76ers might look next season
  • Dalembert almost netted a triple double, with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 9 blocks. He shot 8 of 8 from the free thrown line - he actually raised his free throw numbers to a respectable 73% this season. Willie Green seems to have broken out of his shooting slump - Willie’s actually shooting 53% over the last 5 games! Best of all, Andre Miller only took 7 shots! All of this good news should be tempered by the recent opponents. Two against the Knicks, Houston in a slump, and now the worst team in the league - the Timberwolves. • Somehow the 76ers, a few times every year, manage to let some scrub on any given team score his career high. I wish I could quickly compile some stats on that statement - but I swear it’s true. Again, last night Andray Blatche (who?, exactly) scored 26 points off the bench. It was that kind of night. The Sixers lost badly, 116-101, and didn’t even make a real run. At the end of the 3rd quarter the 76ers were down 30. Sixers stand flat-footed for a rebound - (AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta)
Iguodala shot 3-11 and Willie Green shot 3-13. The rest is just bad basketball. The highlight, again, was Louis Williams - 10-13 scoring 25 points, 4 assists, and 2 rebounds.

    76ers News: Tuesday 11-6-07

The 76ers are getting a few days rest and practice to regroup after the first three games. News is slim, but some additional words on the Iguodala contract. I can’t believe some people are trying to stick up for this lack of a move. Next up the undefeated Bobcats (2-0) tomorrow night at home.

  • Some disagreement about how close or not close the Iguodala extenstion deal was –>Iguodala will focus on playing, not a lack of a new deal
  • Tom Moore is a fool, and is wrong about the Iguodala situation –>Better to wait on Iguodala contract
  • Another rambling story-less article by David Aldridge, he talks about several decades of Sixers, the Iggy contract situation, the Phillies, and predictions for 07-08. You figure it out –>Home sick: A star-less team faces a star-crossed season
  • King and Cheeks will be without contracts at the end of the season –>No certainty in future for Cheeks, King
  • The deadline has come and gone and Andre Iguodala does not has a contract extension. At the end of the 2007-08 season he will become a restricted free agent. This is not good news. Somone is going to offer AI2 a max contract at the end of this season. The Sixers will have the opportunity to offer any deal, but they will now pay full market price. I do not have faith that this situation will be handled well. If Iguodala is supposed to be a key piece of the rebuilding process then this should have been taken care of.
