Redd is out and the 76ers still can’t be one of the worst teams in the league. The lone bright spot is Dalembert: 16 points, 16 rebounds. Willie Green continues to jack up bricks like a madman (avg 12.5 attempts per game).

Sixers (10-15) fall in Indiana (14-12)

Again the Sixers shoot like garbage, 34.6%, and 25% from three, while giving up 45.7% and 42.9 from three for the Pacers. And - 10 more turnovers. That’s a recipe for losing. Dalembert continues his strong play with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Iguodala did not help his big man out, scoring 16 on 3 of 12. Korver was 0-5 off the bench. This 76ers team is a lucky lot. They caught the Wiz without Arenas, the Rockets on a slump, and now they get the Cavs on a 7 game - make that 8 game losing streak. I’m still of the opinion that these wins will hurt in the long term. But hey a win is a win. Dalembert had a huge game with 16 points and 19 rebounds with only 4 fouls.

Dalembert almost netted a triple double, with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 9 blocks. He shot 8 of 8 from the free thrown line - he actually raised his free throw numbers to a respectable 73% this season. Willie Green seems to have broken out of his shooting slump - Willie’s actually shooting 53% over the last 5 games! Best of all, Andre Miller only took 7 shots! All of this good news should be tempered by the recent opponents. Two against the Knicks, Houston in a slump, and now the worst team in the league - the Timberwolves. Another solid effort, another L. The 76ers quality of play is directly linked with who they play. Sometimes bad teams take on that kind of personality. This game has a simple story - KG 22 points, Dalembert 6 fouls.

Hornets (5-2) drop 76ers (2-4)

The Hornets shot over 47% from the field and 50% from the 3 point line in a easy win over the Sixers, 93-72. The 76ers shot just 13% from 3-land, and most other categories were about even. Goes to show you - putting the ball in the basket is key in winning basketball games. Dalembert had his best game of the season so far with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. Game News

I just got home from the 76ers home opener at the Wachova Center in South Philly. The 76ers lost to the Nets, 93-88. The game was pretty sloppy early on. I thought that neither team was gonna make it to 75. The 2nd half people starting getting going, and both teams made a few runs. The Nets were up 10 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 76ers brought in Louis Williams and his sometimes erratic, but always energetic play changed the tone of the game. Dalembert and Collins struggle - (AP Photo/H. Rumph, Jr.)
By the 6 minute mark the game the Sixers were down just two. Then Mo Cheeks brought Andre Miller back in to run the show and clam things down. Within seconds he threw the ball away. (he got it back on a foul) The game continued to decline and the 76ers were never closer than 5 again.

I’m officially annoyed now. I’ve been hinting at this for days, but now it’s real. Andre Miller once again led the team in attempts. (16) There was a string of possessions in the 3rd quarter where Miller shot or drove (slowly) without anyone else even touching the ball. Is this the “pure point guard” that we need? Then on one of the final key possessions of the game Miller drives baseline and falling out of bounds dumps the ball into Dalembert. I don’t know how Sammy even got it, but it wasn’t the kind of play you run at a key moment. It was awful. I’m saying it now, by the end of the season Williams will be running the team. And I’m not a huge Louis Williams fan. He’s not ready to run this team. But in 19 minutes, Williams had 3 assists and 13 points, and 2 steals. Miller played 34 minutes to total 1 less point and equal stats. Oh and Williams shot 66%.

Well it’s finally here. The 2007-08 season begins tonight for the low-expectation Sixers. It may appear that I’m not a fan of the team. This isn’t the case at all. I’m often most critical of the things I love. I just want the best for the franchise, and we’ve gotten short shrift for a few seasons now. I wish the team the best of luck and the best of health. I have faith that Mo Cheecks will do his damnedest to get this team on the right track. I just don’t know how much that will matter. Iguodala, contract or no extension will be fun to watch year long. Korver will hop off the bench and bang threes. Who knows what Dalembert, Williams, and Willie Green will do - but I’ll be watching. I scored some tickets to the home opener on Saturday night, and I’m geeked up! Besides the fact, that I am just a huge NBA fan - let’s enjoy the ride.

On to the news around the way

  • How the league works, sadly. From HoopsWorld –>Seriously: The Modern NBA
  • King says (on the Bulls), “When I heard that, I thought, “Yeah, right. You can’t build through the draft. But I’ve watched, and they’ve done it. They’ve had patience.” Unlike King, they’ve had patience. –>Will Sixers stay patient with King?
  • Another damn work ethic story, Bob Ford reaching –>76ers bank on work ethic, patience
  • How to market a team that no one cares about –>Marketing staff tries to be creative in its sales pitch
  • John Smallwood states the obvious on philly.com, Sixers need some answers (funny pun, hah) –>Sixers need answers more than wins
  • Herbert Hill has successful knee surgery –>Rookie F Hill undergoes successful surgery
  • Even the Canadians think the 76ers will stink –>Philadelphia 76ers picked to finish last in improved Eastern Conference
  • I like David Aldridge a lot. But I have to say that he must have been a lot tipsy to write this article –>Dalembert as anchor will keep 76ers sailing
