76ers News: Sunday 1-13-08

6 losses in a row, and the trade rumors are hitting a nice peak. I’m just hoping that Andre Miller leaves town before the trade deadline, and the Steafanski puts the franchise in the pole position for 2008-09. It’s sad the we must look so far ahead, but with Iguodala playing the way he’s been playing - does he really think he’ll get a max contract with 19.1 (pts/gm)/5.7 (rebs/gm) - what else can we do. I love Iguodala’s game, he’s the next best thing to Kirilenko, but at a fraction the cost. Kirilenko makes almost 14 million a year, and everyone knows he’s overpaid. Stefanski is not Billy King. Iggy, you missed the money train kid, sorry.

  • Stefanksi is no dummy, but please…before the deadline –>Stefanski in no rush to trade Miller
  • The 76ers first west coast trip did not go to plan –>76ers’ Western trip heavy on stumbles and crumbles
  • Louis Williams continues to get positive attention, HoopsWorld –>Up Close With Lou Williams
  • Is Giricek high?, HoopsWorld –>Giricek Talks Playoffs For 76ers
  • Tom Moore calls out Iguodala –>It’s time for Iguodala to start acting like the 76ers’ best player
  • Martin Frank imagines the 08-09 76ers, he’s left Andre Miller on the team…scary sad –>How the 76ers might look next season
  • A.I. is A.I. No one else, not Iggy, not Andre. Iverson once again displayed his innate ability to put the ball in the hole, dropping 38 points all while dishing 8 assists. Iguodala has a solid, but quiet game. Andre Miller contines to showcase his skills, putting up 21 attempts, 6 assists, and 3 steals. He must really want to be traded.

    Sixers (12-16) whoop Heat (8-21)

On Christmas day I watched the Heat lose to the Cavs. The game wasn’t much of a struggle for the Cavs. LeBron did his thing, the Cavs won. Wade still gets tons of accolades, but no one talks about him leading the league in turnovers (4.5/game). I do wish that someday, it won’t be any time soon, that the 76ers play in one of these X-Mas days games. It would be nice to root for a team that matters. The Heat are awful, the Sixers are awful. Iguodala had one his best game of the season thus far, 28 points, (season high) 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Miller played really well with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists. He really must want to be traded. Louis Williams and Korver contributed off the bench with 13 a piece. The real confusing part is why Shaq can’t get enough touches. He only had 4 attempts (only 7 in the X-Mas day game). Again the 76ers win a game they should not.

The 76ers fought hard and Iguodala finished the game with a game winning jumper. The Sixers were losing most of the game, but came alive in the 4th quarter and hung on to the victory. Andre Miller continues his league wide tryout, scoring 29 points. When will they trade him? Only time will tell.

Sixers (10-15) fall in Indiana (14-12)

Again the Sixers shoot like garbage, 34.6%, and 25% from three, while giving up 45.7% and 42.9 from three for the Pacers. And - 10 more turnovers. That’s a recipe for losing. Dalembert continues his strong play with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Iguodala did not help his big man out, scoring 16 on 3 of 12. Korver was 0-5 off the bench. Kyle Korver isn’t just the token white shooter on the team. On his return the great white hope spread floor and scored 20 on 8-13 shooting, with 4 of 5 from threeland. On this night everyone played well. Andre Miller was close to a tripple double, 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 dimes. Iguodala had 20 and 11 assists, with only 2 TOs. This was the Bucks third home game in a tough schedule. They just beat LA and Dallas - so this game was a huge letdown, and they lost focus. The 76ers took advantage and never let up. The 76ers fought and clawed to overtime. But, once again a loss was written in the books. Iguodala got back on track scoring 26, grabbing 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks. Again, he tallied 4 turnovers. Andre Miller performed well also, scoring 23 on 9-15 shooting. Louis Williams played fairly well, but tripped up on the final possession of the gam. Instead of a shot, the Sixers got a turnover. Game over.

When Iguodala shoots bad we lose. Wasn’t there another guy with the same initials who that statement fit well. He’s long gone, on a winning team now. TO be fair, Iggy did have 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks…and 4 turnovers.

Somehow the 76ers, a few times every year, manage to let some scrub on any given team score his career high. I wish I could quickly compile some stats on that statement - but I swear it’s true. Again, last night Andray Blatche (who?, exactly) scored 26 points off the bench. It was that kind of night. The Sixers lost badly, 116-101, and didn’t even make a real run. At the end of the 3rd quarter the 76ers were down 30. Sixers stand flat-footed for a rebound - (AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta)
Iguodala shot 3-11 and Willie Green shot 3-13. The rest is just bad basketball. The highlight, again, was Louis Williams - 10-13 scoring 25 points, 4 assists, and 2 rebounds.
