The Sixers trailed from the start to the finish. Unlike many games this season, there was no run, no comeback. The defense that has helped them of late was missing in action, allowing the magic to shoot 51.2% from the field and 45.5% from 3. Williams was the lone scorer off the bench, netting 18. I guess 5 games straight was a fluke. The 76ers played like garbage and gave up 104 points. Thaddeus Young played well scoring 12 on 5 of 5 shooting. Andre Miller can smell the trade coming and continues his league wide audition, shooting 7 for 12 with 4 rebounds and 6 assists.

Other 76ers News

  • David Aldridge thinks that King wasn’t so bad after all and attempts to make a case for that. He sights the play of Andre Miller and Dalembert, and the young guys Williams, Young and Jason Smith. I am not a Billy King fan, and the mess that the 76ers are in is not yet turning around. If, and this is a huge if, the Sixers get a solid free agent then we may see some progress. But, the bench is very thin, we have few tradable assets, and a slew of overpaid players. –> As Sixers sprout, credit King for the seeds
  • Not news, but a nice look at the uniform history of the 76ers –> Uniform History
  • It looks like Mo Cheeks will get a contract extenstion. I do believe that he deserves it. As thin as this team is they continue to play hard, and have not quit. That’s a huge step over the last few seasons. –> Cheeks on verge of getting extension
Five straight wins leading to the All Star break. (where no 76ers will participate) The game was probably as good as the 76ers can play. The starters shot an amazing 55% from the field and the team shot 45.2% from the three point line. The won ever statistical category, and won the game handily. Iguodala had 29 points, 8 rebounds 8 assists, and 2 steals. Young and Dalembert played well. Miller continues to play consistent ball. Iguodala throws down - (AP Photo/Rusty Kennedy)

Once again the 76ers caught a team sleeping. This time it was the Dallas Mavericks. I’d love to say that the 76ers had a lot to do with Dallas shooting 35% from the floor and 26% from three, but I honestly don’t believe it. I think the Sixers played a solid game against a team who thought they had an easy night. When a team like Dallas only makes 8 field goals in a half, you have to consider yourself lucky. After the game Dalembert was talking playoffs. Sad but true.

  • Three straight wins and the 76ers are starting to look like a team. Once again the whole team played pretty well, shooting over 50%, out rebounding, out blocking, and just outplaying the opponent. Carney played one of his best games as a pro. He also had a really nice highlight dunk (seen at right). Iguodala played another great all around game and Andre Miller continued his please trade me showcase. Dalembert’s numbers don’t look great (6 rebounds and 16 points), but his play against Kaman was a ket factor in the win. Carney with a SportsCenter dunk - (AP Photo/Tom Mihalek)

If the Sixers were a good team, this season would be truly magical. Once again, Philadelphia gets a team without a key piece. Miami was without new trade addition Marion in the post-Shaq deal. This shouldn’t take away too much from a very solid game from the 76ers. They held Miami to 36.3% shooting, forced 4 more turnovers, outrebounded by 10, and took control after a mini-run by the Heat. Iguodala played like he wants to get paid, netting 25, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Iguodala is strong - (AP Photo/H. Rumph, Jr.)

If the 76ers could play like this all the time…well we’d have something then. The whole team played well, 5 players in double figure scoring, they shot 56.9% from the field, they won most of the important statistical categories. Of course, yet again, the 76ers caught a team on the ropes. No Arenas and Butler left the game part way through.

  • This game went right down to the wire, and yet again the 76ers didn’t even get a shot off. Solid play from most of the 76ers team, but Iguodala was absent on the scoring side, while Miller, Green, Young, and even Williams off the bench out scored him. This kind of game is why the trade rumors about Iguodala are so rampant. Dwight Howard dominated Dalembert, and Turkoglu did everything else. It’s games like this when the 76ers offense is on (shooting 50%), and the turnovers low (8) that a loss kills you and speaks to larger issues with the team as a whole.
