In the first game of the post-Korver era the 76ers bench lost big: 49 to 15. I’ll give you the fact that these teams are made up much differently, but this will be an ongoing problem now that they’ve traded their best bench producer. The Blazers are the hottest team in the NBA. Tons of young talent and the 1st round pick out for the season. This is the complete opposite of the 76ers story, and worth a good look. This game the 76ers truly looked like a team out of gas, scoring just 9 points in the 4th quarter. On the plus side, Rodney Carney had one of his best games yet scoring 11 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Another sub 40% shooting efforts for the 76ers. When they lose, they lose big. On average, in losses, the 76ers scoring differential is over -11 points per game.

Bye Bye Kyle Korver

Kyle Korver

Ed Stefanksi didn’t waste too much time. Kyle Korver, the heart throb of south Philly, has been traded to the Utah Jazz for Gordan Giricek and a future first round draft pick. Don’t expect much from Gircek. He’s averaging about 12 mins a game for the Jazz. He in this trade to match salary, not much else. Giricek is in the last year of his contract, making 4 million. So, this is also a cap relief move, giving Stefanski additional cap room to attempt a major signing next summer.
Dalembert leads the 76ers to a win with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Overall the 76ers played a solid game and took advantage again while Ron Artest sat out.

Sixers (12-16) whoop Heat (8-21)

On Christmas day I watched the Heat lose to the Cavs. The game wasn’t much of a struggle for the Cavs. LeBron did his thing, the Cavs won. Wade still gets tons of accolades, but no one talks about him leading the league in turnovers (4.5/game). I do wish that someday, it won’t be any time soon, that the 76ers play in one of these X-Mas days games. It would be nice to root for a team that matters. The Heat are awful, the Sixers are awful. Iguodala had one his best game of the season thus far, 28 points, (season high) 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Miller played really well with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists. He really must want to be traded. Louis Williams and Korver contributed off the bench with 13 a piece. The real confusing part is why Shaq can’t get enough touches. He only had 4 attempts (only 7 in the X-Mas day game). Again the 76ers win a game they should not.

The 76ers fought hard and Iguodala finished the game with a game winning jumper. The Sixers were losing most of the game, but came alive in the 4th quarter and hung on to the victory. Andre Miller continues his league wide tryout, scoring 29 points. When will they trade him? Only time will tell.

For the 2nd time this year, the 76ers allowed an opposing player to net a career high. Andrew Bynum got 24 and 11, and the win. The 76ers had Dr. J, Moses Malone, and Clint Richardson in the house from 1983 championship team in town, and put up another loss. Iguodala put up 21 attempts and scored 20, doing his best Kobe impersonation. Dr. J remembers

Sixers (10-15) fall in Indiana (14-12)

Again the Sixers shoot like garbage, 34.6%, and 25% from three, while giving up 45.7% and 42.9 from three for the Pacers. And - 10 more turnovers. That’s a recipe for losing. Dalembert continues his strong play with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Iguodala did not help his big man out, scoring 16 on 3 of 12. Korver was 0-5 off the bench. One Year Ago today

It’s been a year since AI was ousted by Billy King in a hopeless attempt to save his job. It didn’t work out. AI continues his amazing career in Denver, and those who said he play would begin to fall off have been so wrong. Iverson’s efficiency rating has jumped up to 21.96. Where will I be on March 19th, 2008? The Wachovia center, or as I still like to call it - the F.U. Center. It will be the event of the year, thanks to my mom & stubhub.

  • This 76ers team is a lucky lot. They caught the Wiz without Arenas, the Rockets on a slump, and now they get the Cavs on a 7 game - make that 8 game losing streak. I’m still of the opinion that these wins will hurt in the long term. But hey a win is a win. Dalembert had a huge game with 16 points and 19 rebounds with only 4 fouls.

Again, the Sixers lose to a lost team. The Garnett-less Wolves are a young and interesting bunch. Not unlike the 76ers, they have a losing record. A good measuring stick? Well, that would be one way to look at it. The answer, a uninspired loss.
