AI reminiscence, Iverson goes for 25, 14, 5 & 7

| After the Sixers loss I watched the Denver Nuggets play the Seattle Supersonics. I am still a huge Iverson fan and he put on quite a show. AI was in effect. But this is the new and improved Ivserson. He scored his 25 points, but along with that he handed out 14 assists, grabbed 5 boards, and 7 steals! The Nuggets won pretty easily. |  |

Sixers lose season opener in Toronto

| One game down, and the Sixers did just what they promised to do. The 76ers lost to the Toronto Raptors 97-106 in game one of the 2007-08 season. The Sixers were down by 20 in the 3rd quarter and battled back to make the game close. In the end the depth and 3 point shooting of the Raptors was too much. The 76ers allowed the Raptors to shoot over 56% from the 3 point line. They did out rebound the Raptors, but gave the ball back in turnovers. Once again, like in pre-season, Andre Miller led the team in attempts. He didn’t shoot bad (7-17) but is he the goto guy now? Korver came off the bench to score 20. Reggie Evans grabbed 15 rebounds in 22 minutes! The Raptors used 12 guys and spread the wealth. TJ Ford passed out 12 assists and scored 14 with only 1 turnover. |  |

At halftime on the radio, the Sixers broadcast team interviewed Billy King. A few gems came from the exchange. First, there is still no signed extenstion for Andre Iguodala. It didn’t sound good to me. Then Billy King expounded on the rebuilding process. He talked about Jim Paxson and Joe Dumars and how he’s “studied” what they’ve done as GMs. This cracks me up because King has been a GM since 1998, while Dumars started in 2000 and Paxson in 2003. I know the situations are different, but does this mean for 3 to 6 years King had no clue at all. We are now supposed to trust this new 3 year plan?

76ers News: Wednesday 10-31-07, The Season is upon us

Well it’s finally here. The 2007-08 season begins tonight for the low-expectation Sixers. It may appear that I’m not a fan of the team. This isn’t the case at all. I’m often most critical of the things I love. I just want the best for the franchise, and we’ve gotten short shrift for a few seasons now. I wish the team the best of luck and the best of health. I have faith that Mo Cheecks will do his damnedest to get this team on the right track. I just don’t know how much that will matter. Iguodala, contract or no extension will be fun to watch year long. Korver will hop off the bench and bang threes. Who knows what Dalembert, Williams, and Willie Green will do - but I’ll be watching. I scored some tickets to the home opener on Saturday night, and I’m geeked up! Besides the fact, that I am just a huge NBA fan - let’s enjoy the ride.

Sixers beat Nets, move to 2-5 in preseason play

| The 76ers got their 2nd win of the preseason against the Jason Kidd-less Nets, 91-83. No one shot above 50%, except Andre Miller who shot 8-10. The Sixers defense continues to look good against the 2nd and 3rd teir players of other teams. Louis Williams played only 8 minutes, odd. I don’t have much else to say about this game. But if this is the last warm up before the real season begin - well - there are still a lot of unanswered questions. |  |

Sixers drop another to the Knicks

| For the 2nd time this preseason the 76ers faced off against the New York Knicks. The end result was nearly the same. The Sixers lost 90 to 103. The squad shot under 40% and were handily outrebounded. They did show some effort on defense, forcing 24 turnovers. But, this is a shady Knicks team, not an elite group at all, and they played 15 players. Once again Andre Miller led the team in scoring and attempts. This just kills me. Everyone praises him for his “true point guard” status. Yeah he shot 50% this game but if this happens in the regular season I’m gonna revolt. |  |

Sixers get first preseason win vs. Boston

| The 76ers finally got their first win of the preseason (now 1-4) against the Boston Celtics: 76ers 96 - Celtics 78. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce sat out, but a win is a win, right? The whole team played reasonably well. Jason Smith had his best game yet, grabbing 9 rebounds and scoring 16 points. The only problem with that is this: the Celtics didn’t have anyone over 6′ 9″ on the court all night. Jason Smith is 7′ tall. Reggie Evans didn’t make a field goal again, putting him at 0-16 in preseason. Kover didn’t miss a 3 and the 76ers had 6 people in double figure scoring. Louis Williams only played 17 minutes, but his numbers look good. |  |
